This is a classical music CD featuring the best music of composer Arvo Pärt. To honor of Arvo Pärt's 75th birthday, in 2010 this 2cd collection was was released with The Very Best of Arvo Pärt. This album features many of his best known works including many composed in Pärt's new style, of which perhaps the most famous will be Spiegel im Spiegel. Arvo Pärt is one of the best-selling living composers of the past 20 years. Arvo Pärt was born in Estonia, at a time when the country could briefly celebrate its independence from its neighbors could celebrate. In 1944, the country was occupied by the Soviet Union, and that caused Pärt to spend much of his life had to resist the Soviet regime. Golden Earring's very last performance ever took place at the Rotterdam on Saturday night, November 16, 2019. By coincidence, that last performance was recorded by director Marcel de Vré (known for his documentaries for NTR's Uur van de Wolf and his recording of Golden Earring Five Zero show at the Amsterdam Ziggodome in 2015). He was approached to film the show and project the live footage onto the large video screen at the back of the stage to project the footage. Unbeknownst to the band, De Vré recorded the footage and it ended up on the shelf. Thus, fortunately, there is fantastic image and sound of a great performance - tragically, in retrospect, the very last concert ever of Golden Earring. This historic release is striking proof of that. When guitarist/singer and co-founder of the band George Kooymans announced in February 2021 announces that he can no longer perform due to health problems, that means the abrupt end of Golden Earring after sixty years. So does the reality that the group would never be on stage again. Time to release the recordings of the Ahoy concert off the shelf. In close collaboration with the band the material was edited by Marcel de Vré, while the sound recordings were mixed by John Sonneveld - for over thirty years the faithful technical right-hand man of Golden Earring. The artwork - from an idea by Barry Hay - consists of a replica of the original concert poster, but also includes a collage of photos that fans of Golden Earring submitted over the past year. The result is the double-CD/DVD, titled You Know We Love You! - Live Ahoy 2019. A worthy farewell that the band and fans more than deserve.
