For flat screen TVs and monitors, the VESA organization has developed a number of standards that allow for easy mounting. Almost all manufacturers have adopted these standards. You can easily check which standard your TV supports by measuring the distances between the mounting holes on the the back of your TV. Almost all flat screen TVs have 4 mounting holes on the back. If the distance between the mounting hole top left and bottom left, for example, is 200 mm and between the top left and right is also 200 mm, your TV supports the VESA standard 200x200, also referred to as VESA 200. It can also sometimes happen that the vertical distance between the screw holes is 100 mm and the horizontal distance is 200 mm, your TV then supports the VESA standard 200x100. The distance between the mounting holes is important to choose the right wall mount.
